The Step Ahead to Fall Prevention in Older Adults training program is a fall prevention for health care providers and caregivers providing care to older adults, and is facilitated by York Region Public Health, Public Health Nurses.

The goal of this free training session is to increase knowledge, skills and awareness about the causes of falling and to recommend fall prevention strategies for the older adults whom health care providers and caregivers work with . Topics covered include: aging, ageism, learned helplessness , risk factors for falls and changing behavior through supportive coaching. The program is evidence based and utilizes current research, adult learning principles and best practices in fall prevention.
